Every young person should leave school well prepared for life beyond their studies. High-quality careers education, information, advice and guidance play a key role in ensuring that students are equipped with the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to progress successfully into further education, training or employment.
Our careers programme is designed in line with the Gatsby Benchmarks of Good Career Guidance, ensuring students have access to a structured and progressive programme that supports them in understanding the full range of opportunities available to them. We aim to provide clear information, impartial advice and meaningful experiences that enable students to make informed decisions about their subject choices and future career pathways.
Through our PSHE curriculum, careers activities and engagement with employers, further education providers and training organisations, students are supported to explore different sectors and pathways. These experiences help them develop a deeper understanding of the world of work and how different education and training routes can lead to a variety of career opportunities.
Our goal is to inform, inspire and motivate students so they can confidently plan their next steps and recognise how the decisions they make today can shape their future.

Shenley Brook End School Careers Programme
Our Careers programme is assessed against the Gatsby Benchmarks, which are:
Benchmark 1: A stable careers programme Benchmark 2: Learning from career and labour market information Benchmark 3: Addressing the needs of each student Benchmark 4: Linking curriculum learning to careers Benchmark 5: Encounters with employers and employees Benchmark 6: Experiences of workplaces Benchmark 7: Encounters with further and higher education Benchmark 8: Personal guidance
The careers programme is evaluated every three years. Feedback is gathered from students, staff, parents and key partners throughout the academic year following events and one to ones. This data is then used to inform our Careers programme.
