Student Homework
|
Students are expected to engage with home learning in accordance with the published timetable, with opportunities for independent study increasing as they progress through Shenley Brook End School. Home learning may take a variety of forms, including written assignments, reading, revision, research, practical activities, extended projects and participation in enrichment opportunities.
Home learning is an important part of the learning journey. It enables students to consolidate and deepen their understanding of the knowledge and skills taught in lessons, revisit prior learning and strengthen long-term retention. Through regular practice and retrieval of previously taught content, students build secure foundations for future learning, make connections across the curriculum and develop a deeper understanding of their subjects.
Homework also encourages students to become more independent learners, developing valuable skills such as organisation, time management, resilience, self-discipline, research and problem-solving. These transferable skills support success across the curriculum and prepare students for further education, employment and lifelong learning.
All home learning is carefully planned to be meaningful, purposeful and appropriate to students' stage of learning, ensuring that every student is both supported and challenged.
Please follow detailed guidance below on home learning at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 . These guides also include information on the frequency of homework set in each subject area.
